DEVELOPMENT OF INDIGENOUS TECHNOLOGY FOR ACHA DEHULLING

Project Overview

Acha (hungry rice) is extremely small-sized grain whose processing is time consuming and difficult.  The Council developed an indigenous technology for acha dehuling to address the challenge of manual dehulling/dehusking which is very laborious. Furthermore, the Council collaborated with one of Universities in the North Centre modify and improve the acha dehulling machine with a view to making it more efficient. The technology has been patented and deployed to FCT Department of Science and Technology for demonstration, while awaiting full commercialization.
