COLLECTION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF DIATOMITE FROM SELECTED SITES

It is a naturally occurring silica rich sedimentary rock formed from fossilized diatom remains. It is widely used in filtration, absorbent, insulation, constructions, paints and agriculture, making it an important industrial Raw Material. The department initiated this project to characterize and analyze diatomite deposits. The result will provide reliable data on the quality an industrial suitability of Nigerian Diatomite, support prospective investors and ensure that the Councils mineral data base is updated with credible information.
