In line with the Council’s mandate to promote the development of Nigeria’s industrial raw materials through quality assurance, standardization, and capacity enhancement, the Laboratory Services Division implemented a series of interrelated activities under the Third Quarter High-Impact Projects.
a) Capacity Building and Training:
A 2-day hands-on training was conducted on the Measurement, Calculation, and Application of Uncertainty in Laboratory Testing and Analysis to enhance staff competence in line with ISO/IEC 17025 standards. The training, held at the RDPC Conference Room, Lugbe, strengthened technical expertise required for maintaining quality assurance and expanding the laboratory’s testing scope.
b) Equipment and Infrastructure Optimization:
The Division carried out the relocation and installation of the Biobased Fume Cupboard, Fat Analyzer, and Water Distillation Apparatus to optimize laboratory efficiency and ensure compliance with operational standards.
c) Registration with IPAN Proficiency Test:
The RMRDC Laboratory registered for the 4th Proficiency Test organized by the Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria (IPAN). This participation provides an external quality assurance mechanism, ensuring the reliability, accuracy, and credibility of laboratory test results.
d) Calibration of Laboratory Equipment:
Calibration of major laboratory machines, equipment, and apparatus was undertaken to maintain traceability and defensibility of test results in line with certification and accreditation requirements.
