The Pilot Production of Starch-Based Industrial Adhesives is an R&D-driven initiative aimed at converting cassava starch into high-quality, industrial-grade adhesives suitable for packaging, woodworking, and other industrial applications. This project is strategically designed to reduce Nigeria’s reliance on imported adhesives, promote local raw materials utilization, and support the development of indigenous industrial capacities. By leveraging agricultural commodities like cassava, the initiative aligns with national policies on import substitution and the promotion of value addition in agro-based industries.
Objectives:
To develop a pilot-scale production process for starch-based industrial adhesives.
To validate adhesive formulations for packaging, woodworking, and other industrial applications.
To provide a locally sourced alternative to imported adhesives, reducing foreign exchange expenditure.
To establish a foundation for commercialization and large-scale industrial production.
Timeline: January 2025 – October 2025
