PROJECT DETAILS: WATER BORNE PAINT
Following are the details of the project:
Nigeria spent $1.22m annually on the importation of polyvinyl acetate which accounts for 0.75% of global importation. In an effort to reduce this trend, RMRDC developed a formulation of waterborne paints from the blends of natural rubber latex and polyvinyl acetate. The technology has been patented and the Council has commenced commercialization of the product in collaboration with a paint industry/company. This is expected to create a new area in the utilization of natural rubber latex in the country as well create jobs. The project won an award during the Technology and Innovation Expo organized by the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology.
