PROJECT DETAILS: DEVELOPMENT OF FRUIT JUICE CONCENTRATE

Following are the details of the project:

The demand for fruit juice has rapidly grown over the past decades. About 90% of what is consumed is imported. However, there are few companies producing fruit juice concentrate in the country. This project will help to promote more investment in tropical fruits cultivation and processing and reduce dependence on importation. The Council collaborated with some Farms to sensitise farmers in the South West Zone on best practices in tropical fruits production. This has resulted in farmers increasingly adhering to best farming practices, adopting more efficient use of inputs and producing quality fruits. The Council also collaborated with NIHORT, Ibadan for the production and distribution of improved seedlings of mango (4,000 number of keith and Ogbomoso varieties) which were distributed to farmers in the South West Zone.
