PROJECT DETAILS: DEVELOPMENT OF COTTON FIBRE AND OTHER NATURAL FIBRES

Following are the details of the project:

Cotton is an important raw material for the textile industry. Less than 20% of yarn needs is met locally, a significant proportion of mills are moribund while cultivation of long staple cotton is abysmally low.  To encourage growth and development in this sector. RMRDC, in the last four years, boosted the supply of improved varieties of cottonseeds (SAMCOT 9, 10, 11, 12, 13) and other certified seeds. The council also provided other farm inputs and technology to the relevant farmers association as part of its effort to revive the sector.
