As part of efforts to promote the development and optimal utilization of the abundant raw materials in Nigeria in particular and Africa in general, the Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC) is collaborating with the Directorate of Technical Cooperation in Africa (DTCA) to develop the raw materials value chain in Africa.

Speaking while receiving a delegation of officials from DTCA led by the Director-General, Ambassador Rabiu Dagari in his office in Abuja recently, the Director-General of the Council, Prof. Hussaini Doko Ibrahim said the Council is working with key stakeholders to exploit and develop the raw materials in Nigeria and beyond, to boost industrial growth as impetus for globalization and world trade.

Prof. Ibrahim, while noting that the Council had created a structure to develop raw materials value chain of important agricultural and mineral commodities in the country stated that there is need to expand the Council’s operation to the rest of the African continent.

He welcomed a working partnership with DTCA which he opined will lead to the development of the entire African region.

Earlier, Ambassador Dagari commended the Council for its achievements in the discharge of its mandate. He noted that the Council had succeeded in spotlighting raw materials that has facilitated the growth of the manufacture sector and establishment of micro, small and medium industries that can source their raw materials requirements locally.

The DTCA Boss also noted that there were immense possibilities, and that DTCA was willing to key into the Council’s achievements in its operations which span the whole of the African continent.

He therefore expressed his delight with the prospects of partnering with the Council on the development of raw materials value chain, saying that DTCA will do all that is within its power to support the promotion of raw materials sourcing and development in Africa.
